Nancy Streufert

Christ Church, Eureka

After being raised a Methodist, Nancy became an Episcopalian as an adult, confirmed in 1985 at All Saints-by-the-Sea Episcopal Church, Santa Barbara, where The Rev. Canon Gethin B. Hughes (later Bishop of San Diego) was rector at the time.  Since moving to Humboldt County from Los Angeles in 2003, she has become active in Christ Church in Eureka, serving on the spiritual formation committee and supporting the music program in all its forms, including singing in the choir as an alto.

Nancy is serving a three year term on the Vestry (Class of 2009) and expects to graduate in June 2007 from the Education for Ministry (EfM) program, a four-year Episcopal lay ministry curriculum administered by the University of the South’s School of Theology.  Other volunteer activities include serving as a Volunteer Chaplain with the Spiritual Health Department at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Eureka, and as a board member with the Humboldt Senior Resource Center and with the Arcata Economic Development Corporation.

In her professional life, Nancy is an attorney with a law practice focused on small business, nonprofit, entertainment/art, and intellectual property law.  She lives in a small community just outside Eureka called Freshwater with husband Richard (Dick) and aged cat Vinnie (20 years old!).  For cultural enjoyment and soul enrichment, Nancy reads voraciously, studies religion and culture, plays the flute and piano, and listens to the Saturday afternoon broadcasts of the Metropolitan Opera.
