DIOCESE WELCOMES NEW DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS

SACRAMENTO, CA., April 6, 2009—The Episcopal Diocese of Northern California, a diocesan community comprised of over 70 congregations and over 15,000 Episcopalians spanning the Northern California Region, today announced the hiring of Keri Lopez as its new communications director.

Keri is a graduate of the University of California at Davis where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics and German, and an award-winning communications professional with more than 7 years of experience. She has represented several local non-profit organizations, including the California Optometric Association, the Faculty Association of California Community Colleges and, most recently, the Sacramento Builders’ Exchange. Keri has served as a volunteer for community and faith-based programs, such as Painting for Miracles, a charity event to benefit the Children’s Miracle Network, and the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Elementary School development committee where she has worked to develop and design their quarterly alumni newsletter.

An army “brat” at heart, Keri spent much of her life travelling before settling down in California 15 years ago. Having lived most of her life abroad in countries such as Germany, Japan and Italy, Keri brings a unique perspective, passion and love for travel, art and communications. Newly married, Keri now resides in Rocklin, California and is eager to begin her work with the Episcopal Diocese of Northern California; “I am pleased to accept this position and deeply moved by the opportunity to bring my experience and passion for communications to the Episcopal community, impassioned by its faith and driven by its commitment to spread the word of God.”

Her work with the Episcopal Diocese of Northern California will initially encompass work to strengthen communications both internally within the more than 70 churches, and externally among each of their respective communities. She will also work to develop and employ a communications infrastructure which will better support Diocesan communication through various respective print and web venues. Bishop Barry Beisner welcomes Keri to the Episcopal Diocese of Northern California team, adding “Keri Lopez is a wonderful addition to our diocesan ministry team. This Diocese has an exciting story to tell, and we now have the perfect person to help us tell it ever more effectively.”
